A lot of the problems we see with an old breaker box are;

  • absence of  ground rods.
  • the waterline grounding is usually done improperly.
  • last but most significantly, the existing branch circuits are usually over fused.

By putting a 20 or 30 amp fuse in your fuse holder, one that is attached to a #14 AWG branch circuit allows the wire to draw more power than it is designed to carry.

This permits the wire to get hot and even worse, burn!  We've seen many instances where the wire's insulation started to melt & smolder!

I don't have to tell you that this is a dangerous situation!

Below are some typical breaker box installations

This is a job we've recently completed.   The customer had an unsightly iron bracket to hold the deteriorated cloth service entrance cable.  The customer was quite concerned with the aesthetics of the face of her home.  James Reedy seen to it that it was neatly done !

This is an old home in Squirrel Hill, PA  that we wired entirely,  separating the three units so each tenant could have there own electric meter.  We also installed a house panel and meter socket for all the common areas.

Dennis Jendrzejewski and John E. G. Bird completed this project.
